
The Thermal Baths of Venturina have a long tradition.
The “Cratere” source has been used since ever for therapeutical aim. During the Etruscan period the inabitants of Populonia used it. The Ancient Romans mostly appreciated the healing proprieties of the spa water. Many historical documents have mentioned the construction of a marble thermal building, Aquae Populoniae (Thermal Baths of Populonia) around the source “Cratere”. The construction of the first modern spa resort dates back to 1883 (“Bagni Caterina”).
The thermal bath is made of a main building where thermal muds, baths, massages, hydromassages, aerosol and beauty cures are effected, a park where hydropinic cures and a large thermal pool with a restaurant and a Pizzeria that is open every day during the summer.
The Thermal Baths of Venturina are connected to the National Health Service.
The treatments connected to the National Health Service are: thermal muds + thermal baths, thermal baths, respiratory cures (aerosol, inhalation), hydropinic cures.
The patient can be approved to the thermal treatments only by presenting the medical prescription.
The form must be filled with the type of cure and the pathology the patient is effected with. Booking is necessary only for mud baths.
The Termal Baths of Venturina use the thermal waters from two different natural sources, which have a temperature of 34°C (Canneto) and 45°C (Cratere) and have driven the attention of important studies for their many medical advantages.
In particular, the waters from the source Cratere represent an effective remedy against several pathologies regarding:
- diseases of the respiratory apparatus
- diseases of the ear, nose and throat
- rheumatic diseases of bones and the articulations
- diseases of the digesting apparatus
- some diseases of the liver and the biliary apparatus
