A legend has it that in Bagni di Pisa Mary Shelley created Frankenstein, the monstrous creature.
The main building of the hotel was Palace of Lorena where once were dance floors, rooms for guests and for the Grand dukes and today has been transformed in room 207 and 307 from which the Leaning Tower can be admired. The hotel has now 40 rooms, but at least 70 are planned. The rooms have frescoed ceilings, marble and four-poster bed recalling an atmosphere of ancient times.
The bar has a room for smokers, and offers liquors, cocktails and herbal teas to spend an afternoon listening to music, the restaurant offers typical Tuscany dishes prepared in a modern way by chef Cesare Bassi. The ingredients are from organic farming and gives a special value to the healthy cuisine of Bagni di Pisa.
The hotel is connected to the Wellness Centre, where a staff of doctors and therapists take care of the guests. Ayurvedic massage and shiatsu, turkish bath with savonnage carried out following the disciplines from the Orient, watsu, a water massage that helps to relax and to free ones emotions.
Among the marvel’s of Bagni di Pisa are the Grand Duke’s Hammam, a little thermal grotta where the visitor can have a romantic steam bath at a temperature of 45° C.
